All said and done for what ever reason Warren Anderson was not prosecuted. The possibilities of his being prosecuted are not ruled out. It may take some time but it can be so hoped that he will be prosecuted. The main question is there is no co relation between his prosecution and enhancement of compensation. In the present state of affair, the maximum punishment for the offence under Sec.304 A IPC has been awarded and all seven accused persons are ordered to pay fine of Rs. 5 Lacs each.
Governments and victims may approach the superior courts for enhancement of fine of the accused persons and for Curative Writ Petition but there is no occasion to allot 983 crore of rupees extra to gas victims. For what reason such decision is being taken at this juncture should be known to the public. In fact sufficient compensation was given to the victims and there is no question to reconsider such aspect of enhancement of compensation from time to time. This reflects that there is something collusion between the government and the gas victims about vote bank. The subject of compensation was finally decided and the job of the courts was also over. Do not burden the general public for the default of American company
There is no law which permits perpetual compensation to victims for any type of accident whether it is a murder case or an accident case. Why such grace is being shown to victims of Bhopal Gas tragedy. Let America or Anderson come forward to pay compensation.
